About Governing Council
PCMCH’s Governing Council works collectively to support PCMCH’s mandate of providing evidence-based, trusted leadership to perinatal, newborn, child and youth health services across Ontario.
The Governing Council is responsible for:
- Providing leadership to drive system design, planning, coordination and efficiency to improve the health and wellbeing of families and communities across the province;
- Giving strategic advice and addressing requests from the Ministry of Health and other system partners;
- Establishing and overseeing PCMCH’s strategic direction through multi-year strategic plans; and
- Overseeing the work of PCMCH Committees and the Secretariat via the Executive Director.
What is the time commitment?
The Governing Council meets a minimum of four times a year, either virtually or in person at the PCMCH office in downtown Toronto. Meetings are typically two hours in length and members can expect to spend approximately one hour reviewing materials in advance. In between meetings, members may be expected to attend other meetings and engage in priority activities identified by the Governing Council. Members are appointed for a three-year term, which can be renewed once. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
