Are you a youth aged 16-22, or a parent or caregiver of a child or youth, who has received healthcare in Ontario within the last five years? Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge to inform system planning and improve health outcomes for children and youth across the province?
If you answered “yes” to the questions above, we encourage you to apply to the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH) Child and Youth Committee.
About the Child and Youth Committee
The Child and Youth Committee (CYC) works collaboratively with healthcare providers, system partners, healthcare leaders, and individuals with lived/living experience to enhance child and youth health outcomes and to support the implementation of PCMCH’s strategic priorities.
The CYC:
- Provides expert, evidence-informed advice and recommendations on system design, planning, and coordination to support decision-making, improve health outcomes, and reduce inequities in child and youth care
- Reviews relevant data and key indicators to monitor the progress and impact of CYC’s work and to make evidence-informed recommendations related to gaps and opportunities to improve child and youth health outcomes
- Facilitates the development and/or implementation of evidence-based practice guidelines and standards to inform the delivery of equitable, high-quality child and youth care, recognizing the full spectrum of resourcing across settings, by leveraging regional partnerships and other mechanisms
- Establishes work groups and task forces as needed and oversees their work related to PCMCH’s child and youth health priorities
Who we are looking for
We know your experience with paediatric health care is different than that of healthcare providers and policy makers. Your perspective is important, and we want to make sure it is considered in the work of the CYC. We are looking for individuals with lived/living experience to join the CYC starting in April 2026.
We hope you'll consider applying if you:
- Have personal experience with paediatric healthcare services in Ontario
- Are passionate about improving care and patient experiences
- Can provide valuable feedback and insights based on your experience
What is the time commitment?
The CYC meets virtually at least four times a year. Meetings are typically two hours in length and are held during the daytime on weekdays. Members are expected to serve a three-year term. This is a volunteer position. Individuals with lived/living experience are provided an honorarium in appreciation of their time and contributions.
How to apply
If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete the online expression of interest (EOI) application by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026. As part of this process, you may choose to upload your resume (optional).
Shortlisted applicants may be asked to participate in a short interview by phone or Zoom.
PCMCH is committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in Ontario’s perinatal and child health system. This includes ensuring that those who are involved in our work reflect the diversity and needs of Ontarians. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to consider applying.
