Change is a constant in healthcare. At PCMCH, it is something we approach thoughtfully, with purpose and guided by insights from those we serve.

Over the past year, we have been listening closely to our partners and reflecting on how we can continue to support Ontario’s perinatal, newborn, child and youth health system. These insights and conversations have helped shape important changes in how we work, how we share information and how we support improvement across the province.

One of the most visible examples of this is PCMCH’s new website. Following feedback from our 2025 Communications Survey, we redesigned our website to improve usability, accessibility and functionality. The new site features more intuitive, user‑centred navigation, a stronger mobile and accessibility experience, and expanded functionality to make it easier to find and use PCMCH resources. I encourage you to explore the new website.

We have also recently launched the Emergency Department Paediatric Readiness (EDPR) Resource Centre, an online hub designed to support EDs in strengthening care for children and youth. Grounded in evidence and shaped by input from EDs across Ontario, the Resource Centre reflects our shared commitment to continuous quality improvement. PCMCH plans to relaunch the EDPR province-wide assessment survey in 2027 to continue monitoring progress and identifying opportunities to strengthen paediatric emergency care.

Finally, we shine a spotlight on Governing Council Chair Bruce Squires. Motivated by a desire to make the greatest difference, Bruce brings a strong system‑level perspective to PCMCH, shaped by experience across children’s hospitals and now in his new role at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. His commitment to bringing people together strengthens how we serve children, youth and families across Ontario.

As PCMCH continues to adapt, our mission remains unchanged: to work alongside partners to improve outcomes and reduce inequities for Ontario’s pregnant people, babies, children, youth and families. Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy this issue of the PCMCH newsletter.

Warmly,

Sanober
